An den Filmwissenschaftler und -schriftsteller Richard Barsam ( geb. 1938, Emeritus Professor of Film Studies am Hunter College in New York), der 1975 ein Werk über «Triumph des Willens» veröffentlichte.
25.II.1973. «... Vielleicht haben Sie sich gewundert, dass ich Ihnen so lange nichts über meinen Nuba-Film und über mein Nuba-Buch geschrieben habe. Der Grund ist, dass ich seit Frühjahr dieses Jahres grosse Schwierigkeiten mit dem englischen Verleger meines Buches hatte.../ In wenigen Tagen verlasse ich für einige Monate Deutschland und werde nach 5-jähriger Abwesenheit zum ersten mal wieder meine Nuba besuchen. Ausserdem haben wir Filmarbeiten in Ostafrika zu erfüllen…»

If you can see the 35 mm copy of 'Triumph of the Will' and this copy is really still a good copy, that means not to dark and no scratches - few and thin scratches would be not important - and if the sound is still good and clear and if you think it would be possible to make from this copy a good kombiniertes dup-negative - and a good lightsound-negativ which is made over an electric-soundpult - what is technical in quality much better than a soundnegativ made in the laboratory directly from the copy - / this must be controlled - and only you can it...»
9.XI.1974. «...I have promised to sent you some photos from my film ‹Triumph of the Will›. This was more difficult as I have thought, because my archive-photos have had only one picture from one motive and many of them are very old and they have not a negativ. For this reason I must find good copies, that if was possible to let make new negatives and some prints for you. You will find including 9 new prints...» (liegen bei).
15.XI.1974 Ebenfalls über «Triumph des Willens». «...Helmut Dorger said that a big distribution ompany want to buy the rights to make a new negative for 70 mm. It sound's very unusual. But if this would be realistic and if it would be really good money. I would be very afraid, that I, after this film is shown in big cinema-theatres, I can't come more or work in the USA. Because this film would be a 'Herausforderung' and I don't want this....
...during the first week of December, my secretary Inge Brandler will look in my archive to find articles which have written about my filmworks - this may be about Olympia. Blue Light and Tiefland. But I have nothing written about Triumph. The reason is, that during this work I was too busy - I haven't have any possibility to do [other] things as my filmwork...»
