Liebich, Curt
1868 Wesel - 1937 Gutach.
Flowering broom. Oil on canvas. Signed lower left and indistinctly dated (19)19. Verso numbered «474» and «357» on two old labels.
The present painting shows in an exemplary manner the skilful use of a typical and recurring colour palette by this famous Black Forest painter: the bright yellow of the flowering broom in the foreground, the lush and intense green of the pastures, as well as the blue-green of the mountains in the background. Another characteristic is the depiction of animals, in this particular case grazing cows on the hill top in the middle ground of the painting, kept in the background and still enlivening the scene.
Authentication: We would like to thank Jean-Philippe Naudet, Museum Hasemann-Liebich in Gutach, for the authentication via E-Mail, based on photos, 04.04.2015

deutsch 1868 Wesel - 1937 Gutach.
Blühender Ginster. Öl auf Leinwand. U.l. sign. und undeutlich (19)19 dat. Verso auf zwei alten Etiketten «474» und «357» num.
H. 45, B. 55,3 cm.
