Große Schale mit Clair-de-Lune-Glasur
Large clair-de-lune glazed bowl with purple coloured copper transmutation. Probably China, Song dynasty. Light pottery with turquoise blue craquelure glaze. Unmarked.
In Europe the thick, lavender blue ceramic is known under the name «clair-de-lune» (moon light). Due to the repeated action of heat, the lavender blue glaze generates a fine craquelure that appears under light opalescent. During the Song, Jin and Yuan dynasties it was popular to decorate the surface of the clair-de-lune glaze ceramics additionally with purple coloured spots as a result of a transmutation between the copper oxides and the metal of the glaze.
Literature: Cécile and Michel Beurdeley, Chinesische Keramik, München 1974, p. 122 et seq. (cf.).

This auction item is subject to 19 % statutory import duties added to the net price (hammer price + premium).

deutsch Wohl China, Song-Dynastie. Heller Scherben, türkisblaue Krakeleeglasur. Auf der sechsfach gelappten Innenwandung purpurroter Kupfertransmutationsfleck. Ungemarkt. H. 11, D. 24 cm.
