Düsseldorfer Malerschule
Düsseldorf School of Painting mid 19th C. Plein-air painter with his painting utensils on his way home. Oil on canvas. Unsigned. Verso inscribed on the stretcher «Schirmer (l.u.)». Restored.
Enclosed a historic certificate of authenticity by Prof. Karl Koetschau, director of Städtische Kunstsammlungen Düsseldorf, dated 1923, in which he describes the painting as a work by Johann Wilhelm Schirmer. In the current scientific knowledge the present study can be attributed to a representative of the Düsseldorf School of Painting in the circle of Schirmer.

Anbei ein historisches Gutachten von Prof. Karl Koetschau, Direktor der Städtischen Kunstsammlungen Düsseldorf, aus dem Jahr 1923, in welchem das Werk Johann Wilhelm Schirmer zugeschrieben wird. Nach heutigem wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisstand kann die hier gezeigte Studie einem Vertreter der Düsseldorfer Malerschule im Umkreis Schirmers zugeordnet werden.
