The SMY Hohenzollern was the Imperial Yacht of Emperor Wilhelm II from 1893 to 1918. He used her for representative receptions on his journals abroad to Scandinavia, England and United States etc. During the Kiel regatta the Emperor Wilhelm II held a state banquet on board of the SMY Hohenzollern to entertain officers of the British fleet on 25 June 1914. But the news of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo brought the Anglo-German relations abruptly to an end.
