Born 1930 Galati, lives and works in Vienna.
Untitled from «Cabinet Anatomique» (Encyclopaedie Diderot et d'Alembert; Médicine opératoire).
Assemblage of engraving, bones, fabric and gold threads on brown cardboard, mounted under passepartout, in wooden object frame. Verso numbered «2» and directional arrow as well as inscribed «12f» and «90f». Verso on the back board signed, dated 1993 and numbered «2».

The «Cabinet Anatomique» series includes both larger works on engravings taken from the «Encyclopédie» by Denis Diderot and Jean-Baptiste d'Alembert and small-format, often almost square pictures with graphics of surgical operations. In the present work, Spoerri worked on a sheet of the world-famous «Encyclopédie», which was produced between 1751 and 1780, on the subject of bone.
Provenance: purchased at the Galerie Pro Arte, Freiburg i.Br., in 2001; since then med art-collection of the HUG-group, Freiburg i.Br.

Assemblage aus Kupferstich, Knochen, Stoff und Goldfaden auf braunem Karton, unter Passepartout montiert, in Holzobjektrahmen. Verso «2» num. und Richtungspfeil sowie bez. «12f» und «90f». Verso auf der Rahmenrückwand sign., 1993 dat. und «2» num.

Zur Serie des «Cabinet Anatomique» gehören sowohl größere Arbeiten auf Stichen, die der «Encyclopédie» von Denis Diderot und Jean-Baptiste d'Alembert entnommen sind, als auch kleinformatige, oft fast quadratische Bilder mit Grafiken chirurgischer Eingriffe. Im vorliegenden Werk bearbeitete Spoerri ein Blatt der weltberühmten «Encyclopédie», die zwischen 1751 und 1780 entstand, zum Thema Knochen.
Provenienz: erworben 2001 in der Galerie Pro Arte, Freiburg i.Br.; seitdem med art-Sammlung der HUG-Gruppe, Freiburg i.Br.
