The present work, particularly appealing and excellently preserved, demonstrates in an exemplary way the typical style of Hölzel's works from the early 1930s. The degree of abstraction allows the observer to suggest concrete and representational motifs, even if the essential picture content only becomes apparent at second glance and after an intensive confrontation with the work. The extensive, clearly distinguished colour fields of the composition indicate the artistic analysis and confrontation with religious glass windows and Goethe's colour theory.

Die hier präsentierte, ausgesprochen reizvolle und hervorragend erhaltene Arbeit demonstriert in beispielhafter Weise den für Hölzels Werke typischen Stil der frühen 1930er Jahre. Der Grad der Abstraktion lässt den Betrachter noch gegenständliche Motive erahnen und offenbart ihren Bildinhalt doch erst auf den zweiten Blick und bei intensiverer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Werk. Die flächigen, klar voneinander abgegrenzten Farbfelder der Komposition lassen deutlich Hölzels Auseinandersetzung mit religiösen Glasfenstern und Goethes Farbenlehre erkennen.
