«Die Schlacht auf dem Lechfeld (the battle of Lechfeld)».
Pencil and India ink, partially washed, on strong paper (composed of two parts), mounted under passepartout at the upper margin. Dated «27. Novb. 1837» lower middle. Verso estate stamp «Nachlass: Michael Echter (estate: Michael Echter)». Verso on the passepartout on a collection label handwritten dated «27. Nov. 1837», titled, inscribed «Echter Michael» and numbered «562D - 1». Small paper loss, small tear.
H 27,7, W 34,4 cm (sheet). Unframed.
The drawing was created during the design process of the large-format history painting «Ungarnschlacht (battle against the Hungarians)», which Michael Echter created for the gallery of a magnificent Munich building, the so-called Maximilianeum. The battle painting is still in the possession of and in the premises of the Stiftung Maximilianeum with the inventory number 17.

Bleistift und Tusche, teilweise laviert, auf festem Papier (aus zwei Teilen zusammengesetzt), am oberen Rand unter Passepartout montiert. Mitte u. «27. Novb. 1837» dat. Verso Nachlassstempel «Nachlass: Michael Echter». Verso auf dem Passepartout auf einem Sammlungsetikett handschriftlich «27. Nov. 1837» dat., bet., bez. «Echter Michael» und «562D - 1» num. Kl. Fehlstelle, kl. Riss.
H. 27,7, B. 34,4 cm (Blattgröße). Ungerahmt.
Die Zeichnung entstand während des Entwurfsprozesses des großformatigen Historiengemäldes «Ungarnschlacht», das Michael Echter für die Galerie eines Münchner Prachtbaus, des sogenannten Maximilianeums, schuf. Das Schlachtengemälde befindet sich bis heute im Besitz und in den Räumlichkeiten der Stiftung Maximilianeum mit der Inventarnr. 17.
