Marcolini plate with mythological motif «L'Homme et le Lion»
Meissen 1774 - 1814. Porcelain, painted in polychrome colours and gold. Depiction of a lion and a young man pointing at a statue of Hercules with the Nemean lion in the well. Rod and rocaille decor as well as scattered flowers on the border. Underglaze blue sword mark with star, assembler number «54» and inscribed «L'Homme et le Lion».
Diam. 23 cm.
Provenance: South German noble family.
Condition report
Good age-related condition. Glazing in the well partially rubbed, hairline crack (circa
6 cm) on the border, verso at the rim minimally chipped (circa
1 cm), gilding slightly rubbed.
