Although he came from a farming family, Adolf Frey-Moock completed an apprenticeship in ecclesiastical fresco painting and then studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. Unmistakable in Frey-Moock's oeuvre is the influence of Franz von Stuck, whose assistant he became in 1909. In exhibitions of the Munich artists' association «Die Unabhängigen (The Independents)» he showed his works, which often display themes from ancient mythological stories.
