Born 1927 Brussels, lives and works in Bougival and Labosse.
«Au pays de l'encre».
Around 1991. Watercolour on greyish, light laid paper, mounted on thin cardboard. Unsigned. Verso inscribed «Au pays du papier» and numbered «706», as well as inscribed probably by a different hand «reserviert albertina auf. 1991 220.000.-» and numbered «26».

Pierre Alechinsky draws much of his inspiration from Asian art, especially calligraphy. This influence runs through many of his works. Paper is his preferred medium, though it is usually not white and unused but rather already marked with signs of age or former usage.
