The Pop-Art artist Peter Max and the Statue of Liberty are inseparably linked. Since 1976, he has been intensively occupied with the symbolic power of the statue, for the restoration of which he actively campaigned in the 1980s. Max himself says of his Statues of Liberty, which he has created in painting and graphic art in various series, but rarely as sculptures: «I wanted to honor this amazing democracy that the Statue of Liberty symbolizes.» from: Link.
The 250 copies of this bronze edition are all hand-painted differently and thus have a unique character.
