Oil on panel, partly cradled. Signed lower right. Verso a printed label from the XXV. Jahres-Ausstellung in Vienna 1897 with the work's data thereon titled «Im Studierzimmer (in the study room)» by hand as well as another label dated 1896 and inscribed «Der alte Dr. Faustus in Staufen (the old Dr. Faustus in Staufen)» by hand. Additionally a printed label dated 1897 and numbered «2057». Verso a sheet written by hand with the artist's and work's data.
