Baroque secrétaire cabinet with St. John's cross
South Germany mid 18th C. Solid oak, walnut, walnut burl wood and precious woods, veneered, as well as brass. Solid, carved pedestal frame with garlands and bead and reel decor as well as four curved feet. Double curved body with three drawers. Above a fall-front opening recessed in the centre with two small drawers. Tabernacle top with nine small drawers and a central door, inlaid with an eight-pointed cross, and two storage compartments behind it. Multiply curved, profiled cornice. Rectangular burl wood fillings on all sides, framed by fine tread inlays and radiating marquetry. Original locks.
