Born 1954 Madrid, lives and works in Paris, Mallorca and New York.
«s/t». Acrylic on canvas. Verso signed, titled, dated «Soller (19)89», inscribed and arrow as well as a label of the Möbel-Transport AG, Basel and Zurich, with the note «Port Franc Bâle». Verso on the stretcher inscribed «Pla d'en bieleta, Soller, A.g. Fontanet», a label of the Gallery Natalie Seroussi, Paris, and a label of the Blum Helman Gallery, New York, each with the work's data as well as a label of André Chenue & Fils Transports Internationaux, Paris, for the Gallery Natalie Seroussi, Paris.

José María Sicilia is one of the most important and influential contemporary artists of Spain, whose works are attracting high interest worldwide and are included in the most famous public and private collections. Characteristic for the works of the artist is their translucent play of lights and shadows.

José María Sicilia ist einer der wichtigsten und einflussreichsten zeitgenössischen Künstler Spaniens, dessen Werke international große Beachtung finden und mittlerweile in den bedeutendsten privaten und öffentlichen Sammlungen vertreten sind. Charakteristisch an den Arbeiten des Künstlers ist ihr transluzentes Spiel mit Licht und Schatten.
