After the first large-format edition of the Bible (Neue Künstliche Figuren, Basel, Guarin, 1576), the Schaffhausen artist Tobias Stimmer (1539 - 1584) produced a pictorial Bible in small format with the publisher Thomas Guarin in 1578. This Vulgate is characterised by the artistic understanding of the late Renaissance and shows the full talent of the Upper Rhine artist.
