Music room mantle clock garniture with porcelain painting
Philippe Mourey, France around 1870. Bronze and porcelain, painted in polychrome colours and gilt. 3 pieces. Architectural construction with a column-framed depiction of a muse playing a lyre, flanked by two fully sculptured putti, above a movement framed by vases, cornucopias and laurel, crowned by a flame vase. Columns, cartouches and decorative elements with fine floral painting as well as depictions of allegorical themes of music in front of a cobalt blue background. Porcelain dial with Roman minute scale in cartouches, spade hands. Eight-day movement, striking on bell. Verso inscribed «Ph Mourey». Corresponding pair of candlesticks, each with three arms and four lighting points. Verso each inscribed «Ph Mourey».
