Jubiläumsauktionen 06.–07.12.2019
Heiliger, Bernhard
1915 Stettin - 1995 Berlin.
«Wandlung I (change I)».
1958. Dark patinated bronze, on travertine base. Signed on shaft. Travertine base added later, original Perspex base included.
H 69, W 28 cm (sculpture),
H 10,9, W 14,9 cm (base).
The sculpture is one of three known castings made by Heiliger during his lifetime. Originally an edition of five copies was planned.
The artist's estate contains a handwritten note stating that the work had a Perspex base. This was replaced by the not authentic travertine base after it had been purchased from Stair Galleries, New York.
