Antes was creating his first metal sculptures circa 1963, together with his new subject of the so called «Kopffüßler». They are looking very similar to his paintings and are depicting mostly heads, partially with extremities, sometimes also full-length statues. The present sculpture is an impressing example of these sculptural activities, where the artist was sampling the three dimensional effect of his famous art character. Etwa zeitgleich mit dem ab 1963 entwickelten Motiv des Kopffüßlers Antes' entstehen auch die ersten Metallplastiken. Sie sind den malerischen Werken sehr ähnlich und stellen meist Köpfe, teils mit Gliedmaßen, teils auch Ganzfiguren, dar. Die vorliegende Skulptur ist ein eindrucksvolles Beispiel der bildhauerischen Arbeit, in der der Künstler die dreidimensionale Wirkung der berühmten Kunstfigur erprobt. Gefertigt bei Laura Metaal, Eygelshoven, herausgegeben von der Edition Volker Huber.
