Heiliger Arsenius, Bischof von Twer
Saint Arsenius, Bishop of Tver. Egg tempera over chalk and gold ground on panel. Saint Arsenius in full ornate with palm leaf, probably over the monastery of Scheltikow. Verso indistinctly inscribed. Signs of age, retouching.
H 17,6, W 14,2 cm.
Saint Arsenius was born in Tver, he served as a peacemaker and thus ended the discord in the Principality of Tver. He died on 2nd of March 1409 and was buried in the monastery of Scheltikow, which he had founded himself.

Russland um 1900. Eitempera über Kreide- und Goldgrund auf Holz. Der Heilige Arsenius im Bischofsornat mit Palmzweig, wohl über dem Kloster von Scheltikow. Verso undeutlich bez. Altersspuren, Retuschen.
H. 17,6, B. 14,2 cm.
Der Heilige Arsenius wurde in Twer geboren, wirkte als Friedensstifter und konnte so die Zwietracht im Fürstentum von Twer beenden. Er starb am 2. März 1409 und wurde im Scheltikow-Kloster, welches er selbst gegründet hatte, begraben.
