«Jack-in-the-Pulpit» vase with iridescent shimmer
Wilhelm Kralik Sohn, Eleonorenhain 1900 - 1910. Colourless glass with partially optically blown surface, gold and mother-of-pearl matt lustere. Organically shaped stand, fluted flower stem entwined with foliage and opening into a wide-open flower with a regular waved edge and a splendid iridescence. Unmarked.
H 44,9, W 27,9 cm.
The vase type «Jack-in-the-Pulpit» is based on the flower of the arum or arisaema, in North America called «Jack-in-the-Pulpit», in a free interpretation. It was originally an invention of the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company around 1899 and, due to its great popularity, was also quickly produced by European art glass manufacturers in their own variation.
