Buddha Bhaisajyaguru
Western Himalaya 17th C. or later. Iron, partially painted and gilt, as well as wooden base, lacquered in red. Buddha sitting in meditation position, his right hand holds the arura fruit of long life, his left hand in avakasa mudra. The Medicine Buddha is robed in the classical monk's robe, which clothes his left arm and right shoulder.
H 17,5, W 21,5 cm.
Provenance: private collection Frankfurt a.M. and Baden-Baden.
Condition report
Good condition. Paint and gilding considerably rubbed, small missing part (L approx.
2 cm) underneath the right leg on the robe, loss of lacquer on the base. Bowl of alms resp. medicine missing.
