Konstantin Aleksei Korovin is one of the most important Russian Impressionists. He went to Paris in 1885 to study French Impressionism. The present painting is an excellent testimony of this, for it shows a vivid colour, a virtuous use of lighting and a positive ease of impressionist application of paint.
Pigment analysis: Prof. Dr. Hermann Kühn, Munich, 27.02.2009. The composition of the pigments shows no evidence against the time of origin of the painting in 1917. There are no indications, that signature and date have been added afterwards.

Konstantin Aleksei Korovin zählt zu den bedeutendsten russischen Impressionisten. 1885 reiste er nach Paris, um den französischen Impressionismus zu studieren. Hierfür ist das vorliegende Gemälde ein exzellentes Zeugnis, überzeugt es doch durch seine lebendige Farbigkeit, den virtuosen Einsatz des Lichtfalls und die positive Leichtigkeit des impressionistischen Farbauftrags.
Farbanalyse: Prof. Dr. Hermann Kühn, München, 27.02.2009. Bei der Zusammensetzung der Malfarben spricht nichts gegen die Entstehung des Bildes im Jahre 1917. Es gibt keinerlei Anhaltspunkte dafür, dass Signatur und Datierung später hinzugefügt sein könnten.
