Ikone des Heiligen Märtyrers Nikita
Icon of the Saint Martyr Nikita. Russia 19th C. Egg tempera over chalk and gold ground on panel, in glazed object box. Nikita with cross and spear, wearing a red cloak over his golden armour. Minor signs of age.
H 17,5, W 15,5 cm (object box).
Saint Nikita is a highly worshipped martyr especially in Russia. He was an Arian Christian in the Gothic legion on the river Danube and was executed by King Athanaric in the 4th Century because of his belief.

Russland 19. Jh. Eitempera über Kreide- und Goldgrund auf Holz, in verglastem Objektkasten. Nikita mit Kreuz und Speer, einen roten Mantel über goldener Rüstung tragend. Min. Altersspuren.
H. 17,5, B. 15,5 cm (Objektkasten).
Der Heilige Nikita ist ein vor allem in Russland verehrter Märtyrer. Er war ein arianischer Christ im gotischen Heer an der Donau und wurde wegen seines Glaubens im 4. Jahrhundert durch König Athanarich hingerichtet.
