Byzantine filigree earring with garnet and mother-of-pearl
Probably 6th C. AD. Yellow gold (tested). Filigree perforated crescent-shaped front, centrally set with one garnet drop, suspending five flexible foxtail chains each with a mother-of-pearl bead at the end. One mother-of-pearl bead is missing.
H 4,5 cm. 3,4 g.
Provenance: according to the consignor purchased at the Galerie Peter Lankoff in 1973, Freiburg i.Br.; since then private collection Dreisamtal.

Byzantinischer Filigranohrhänger mit Granat und Perlmutt
Wohl 6. Jh. n. Chr. GG 22 Kt. (geprüft). Bogenbrisur mit filigran à jour gearbeiteter, halbmondförmiger Schauseite, zentral besetzt mit einem Granattropfen, daran fünf bewegliche Fuchsschwanzketten je mit einer Perlmuttkugel als Abschluss. Eine Perlmutkugel fehlt.
H. 4,5 cm. 3,4 gr.
Provenienz: laut Angabe des Einlieferers erworben 1973 in der Galerie Peter Lankoff, Freiburg i.Br.; seitdem Privatsammlung Dreisamtal.
