Franz Bernhard created several preliminary studies for the work on the sculptures.
The artist emphasises the importance of finding a harmonious form: «As a sculptor, I am particularly interested in the image of the human being. I am concerned with plastic possibilities and with the human model. [...] The search for form plays an important role. The masses have to be distributed.
