Enrico Castellani started his artistic career in the 1950s in Milan, where he maintained close contact with the avant-garde artists Piero Manzoni and Lucio Fontana, among others. Castellani is considered one of the most important representatives of minimalism and conceptual art. In his works he repeatedly used abstract ciphers that have proved to be important for the further development of Italian art.

Enrico Castellani begann sein künstlerisches Schaffen in den 1950er Jahren in Mailand, wo er unter anderem einen regen Kontakt mit den Avantgardekünstlern Piero Manzoni und Lucio Fontana pflegte. Castellani gilt als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter des Minimalismus und der Konzeptkunst und verarbeitete in seinen Werken immer wieder abstrakte Chiffren, die sich als wegweisend für die weitere Entwicklung der italienischen Kunst erwiesen haben.
