Goldmedaillon mit Ideallandschaften
England um 1670. GG

Die äußeren Bildfelder spiegeln das Motiv des Zeigens wider, wohingegen die inneren Darstellungen das Gezeigtbekommen aufnehmen. Zusammen mit den arkadischen Ideallandschaften wird der Anhänger zu einem typischen Beispiel eines Grand-Tour Souvenirs des 17. Jahrhunderts.

Gold locket with ideal landscapes
England circa 1670. Yellow gold 18k (tested) and enamel. Oval locket, hinged on both sides, with four picture fields, each with antique figures in Arcadian ideal landscapes and architectural staffage. Slightly rubbed and small scratches.
H 3,2 cm.
The outer depictions reflect the motif of showing, whereas the inner ones represent the getting shown. Together with the Arcadian ideal landscapes, the pendant turns into a typical example of a
