Anglo-Chinese export lacquer and gilt Davenport desk
China late 19th C. Wood, ebonised and gilt, as well as black-ground lacquer. Four ball feet, recessed base plate, four drawers on either side behind openwork door panels, above a fall front desk with felt inlay and three-drawer interior, on the right a drawer that can be folded out and down on a hinge as an utensil holder for inkpot and quill, above a removable gallery in openwork decoration. All sides and interior panels of the writing flap painted with floral tendrils and multi-figure palace depictions. Two original locks.

Condition report
Age-related unrestored condition. Missing parts respectively damages to wood and varnish, all edges heavily damaged, gold painting partially strongly rubbed on the upper shelf, right door cracked and no longer firmly fixed. One lock renewed. Knob of one drawer and key missing.
