Ludwig Köhler's elongated, ribbed steles literally resist being brought into a static, perpetual position. As «Lehnobjekte (leaning objects)» they only gently touch a wall and represent a fragile connection to the floor. They seem to be casually placed and yet intend to powerfully occupy the space surrounding them without dominating it. Ludwig Köhlers längliche, gerippte Stelen wehren sich förmlich dagegen, in eine statische, immerwährende Position gebracht zu werden. Als «Lehnobjekte» berühren sie nur sanft eine Wand und stellen eine fragile Verbindung zum Boden dar. Sie wirken wie beiläufig abgestellt und beabsichtigen doch, den sie umgebenden Raum kraftvoll zu bestreiten, ohne ihn zu dominieren. Die vielleicht berühmteste von Köhlers Stelen lehnt seit 1991 im Innenhof des «Hauses zur Lieben Hand» in Freiburg i.Br.
