Museale Wegely-Vase
Museum-quality Wegely vase. Wilhelm Kaspar Wegely, Berlin
The merchant Wilhelm Kaspar Wegely, born 1714 in Berlin, founded the first porcelain manufacture there in 1751. Even if his manufacture was only producing for a few years, he created porcelain artworks with an extraordinary wide and fanciful multitude of forms. The vessels, richly covered with sculptural floral decoration and small birds, often crowned by a putto, witness the highest artistic demands of the company's founder.
