Black Forest wall clock with cuckoo
Southern Germany circa 1840. Ebonised wood, partially gilt as well as oil on zinc sheet. Upright rectangular wooden case, large ebonized frame with gold moulding, depicting a romantic landscape with a resting hiker and his dog as well as a castle on a hill in the background. Window for the cuckoo upper middle. Enamel dial with Roman minute scale, iron hands. Wooden board movement, striking on a gong and cuckoo's call over two bellows.
