Vishnu Narayana im Stil von Phnom Da
Vishnu Narayana in the style of Phnom Da. Old kingdom Khmer, Cambodia, pre Angkor period 7th C. Sandstone. Vishnu with tall crown and still recognisable arch ends. The four arm rudiments are concisely worked. Accentuated volumes of chest and hips in contrast to the flat relief sampot. Base later. Signs of age, minor weathering.
H (including base) 54,2, W 14,2 cm.
The temple sculpture is equipped with the Kiritamukuta, the crown of the world rulers. The adjacent arch fragments suggest a representation in the style of Phnom Da - the archaeological site on which the first representative of that figure with supporting arches stabilizing the four arms has been found.

Altes Königreich Khmer, Kambodscha, Prä-Angkor Periode 7. Jh. Sandstein. Vishnu mit hoher Krone, an der noch Bogenenden sichtbar sind. Die Ansätze für die vier Arme prägnant gearbeitet. Akzentuiert modellierte Volumina von Brust und Hüften, im Kontrast zum flach reliefierten Sampot. Sockel später. Altersspuren, leicht verwittert.

Die Tempelskulptur ist mit der Kiritamukuta, der Krone der Weltbeherrscher, ausgestattet. Die anliegenden Bogenfragmente lassen auf eine Darstellung im Stil von Phnom Da schließen - auf dieser Ausgrabungsstätte fand man den ersten Vertreter jener Figur, deren vier Hände von unterstützenden Bögen stabilisiert werden.
