H 36,
In 1920 August Babberger was appointed professor at the Landeskunstschule in Karlsruhe, where he had already studied on the advice of Hans Thoma. His large-scale expressionistic mosaics in the collegiate church of Neustadt an der Weinstraße show his extraordinary skills in this field. The company Puhl & Wagner, founded in Berlin in 1889, was the largest manufacturer of glass mosaics and stained glass in Germany at that time and regularly executed Babberger's designs.
