Franz Bernhard created several preliminary studies for the work on the sculptures.
The artist emphasises the importance of finding a harmonious form: «As a sculptor, I am particularly interested in the image of the human being. I am concerned with plastic possibilities and with the human model. [...] The search for form plays an important role. The masses have to be distributed. Proportions, angles, arcs, directions, movements, etc. must be found and invented», Franz Bernhard, as cited in Künstler, Kritisches Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst, Munich 1990, p. 14.
Provenance: purchased directly from the artist; since then private collection High Rhine.
