Morat, Wilhelm
Born 1954 Neustadt/Black Forest, lives and works in Titisee-Neustadt.
Torso.
Handmade flax paper with enclosed copper welding wires. Signed inside the middle und dated 2001.
H 29,
Wilhelm Morat is of the opinion that paper is nothing other than transformed nature. The shape of this work is created by inserting copper welding wires in between the individual layers of the still liquid paper. As the torso dries, water evaporates and the fibres of the paper shrink and harden, pulling the wires with them and letting a copper sketch appear. Through this the wires bend and a two-dimensional surface becomes something of volume, set in motion by airflow and thermal.
