Parisian pendule Religieuse mantel clock
Jean Minoche, Paris 1st half 18th C. Wood, dark patinated, bronze, partially gilt, silver, brass and tortoiseshell. Upright rectangular case with round pediment and crowned by three vases. In the pediment spandrels and long sides fine inlays in Boulle work with silver, brass and tortoiseshell. Bronze dial decorated with mascarons with Roman minute scale on enamel cartouches and Arabic minute ring, brass hands. Inscribed on a plate below the dial «Jean Minoche AParis». Eight-day movement, striking on bell. Movement inscribed «Jean Minoche AParis».

The «Pendules religieuses» or «Religieuses» are among the earliest clocks of the «Pendule» genre. Their name comes from the fact that their case resembles a church portal.
This object was made from material of a protected species and is subject to certain trade restrictions due to the current CITES regulations. Unrestricted trade is only allowed within the EU. Export to third countries is currently not possible.
Condition report
Good fully functional condition. Strike movement needs adjustment. Tortoiseshell and inlays partially restored, especially verso numerous worm damages, tortoiseshell damaged, patina partly faded on the sides, missing parts in the silver inlays.
