Round platter with laurel decor
Émile and Joseph-Marie Puiforcat, Paris around 1900. Silver 950. Round form, smooth well and hexafoil drawn-in border, thereon ligated monogram «PhD». All-round pearl border with laurel relief and foliage. Hallmark, maker’s mark, export mark, import mark and jeweller’s signum «Keltz» Strasbourg.

The brothers Émile and Joseph-Marie Puiforcat founded the Parisian traditional company in 1820, which successfully produced silverware in the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles for decades until their grandson Jean Puiforcat expanded the company into France's leading silver manufacturer during the Art Deco period. Puiforcat belongs to Hermès since the 1990s.
