Anyone looking between 1965 and 1972 for a new car that combined elegance, comfort and excellent driving performance will almost certainly have looked at the Mercedes 280 SE. The Paul Bracq-designed bodywork has aged with an enviable sense of style and laid the foundations for the later S-Class models. In terms of comfort, the seats are in no way inferior to the armchairs in the living room at home and even at high speeds, the advertising of the time promised no disturbing noise.
The present example presents itself like a time capsule from the day of delivery, its average annual mileage is just under 1435 km. A remarkable feature of this car is the gear lever on the steering wheel for the automatic transmission; the usual variant in the United States, is rather rare on this vehicle made for the German market.
Expert report: Wolf Stremetzne, certified bodywork and vehicle construction technician, Wehr, 08.05.2018, general condition 1-; determined market value 55.000 €.
