With the paper manufacturer's dry stamp lower left. Verso partially indistinctly inscribed «later Dr. Karl Schwartz (...) Dir. Tel Aviv Museum». Verso on the back board with a stamp of Gallery Königstraße Dresden.
Dr. Karl Schwartz (1885 - 1962) was a German-Israeli art historian and the director of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art between 1933 and 1947. Amongst others he has been painted by Lovis Corinth in 1916, Joseph Oppenheimer even painted him several times.

Dr. Karl Schwartz (1885 - 1962) war ein deutsch-israelischer Kunsthistoriker und von 1933 bis 1947 Direktor des Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Er wurde unter anderem im Jahr 1916 durch Lovis Corinth porträtiert, Joseph Oppenheimer malte ihn gleich mehrfach.
