Dirnaichner describes the groundbreaking technique in which he inseparably merges pigments made of minerals with the support and the form as follows: «The grey swamp earth, bound with cellulose, is created in a single process, which is the special feature of all my works. [...] The three lancet forms are in turn struck with a tapping stone according to a second technique. Crushed in the mortar, the lapis lazuli, the flint and the volcanic ash from the Mexican volcano Paricutín are mixed with cellulose fibres and tapped into shape when wet - again a technique that characterises my work.
