1867 Nolde - 1956 Seebüll.
Fackellilien. Aquarell/Japanpapier. Vor dem Hintergrund eines leuchtend blauen Meeres drei exotische intensiv rot leuchtende Fackellilien mit grünen Blättern. U.r. sign. Leichte Befestigungsspuren.
Ob exotische Pflanzen aus der Südsee oder heimische Gewächse aus seinem Garten in Utenwarf nahe der Nordsee, Blumen übten auf Nolde eine besondere Faszination aus. So schrieb er in seiner Biografie «Die Farben der Blumen zogen mich unwiderstehlich an» und «ich liebte die Reinheit der Farben». Das vorliegende Blatt ist ein außergewöhnlich schönes Beispiel für die ausdrucksstarke Farbgebung, die Nolde zu einem der bedeutendsten Aquarellisten des 20. Jahrhunderts gemacht hat.
