Waydelich, Raymond Émile
Born 1938 Strasbourg, lives and works in Hindisheim.
Work from the series «Aus der Lydia-Jacob-Story (from the Lydia Jacob Story)».
Collage made of photograph, oil pastel, opaque white, pencil, stamp and ink-jet print on cream elephant hide paper. Signed lower middle. Dated 1985 lower right as well as stamp «Lydia Jacob».
H 30, W 21 cm (sheet). Framed.
The photo used in the collage was taken by Waydelich himself on 21.12.1985 in Illhaeusern. It was made with a «Beau Brownie», a historic Kodak camera from the 1930s, conceived by a pioneer of industrial design in the USA, Walter Dorwin Teague. Among others, Paul and Jean-Pierre Haeberlin can be seen, who together had transformed the Auberge de l'Ill into a temple of gourmet cuisine. The exhibition Kunst & Wein by F.W. Kost was held here at the time. According to the artist, the drawing below the photo represents «jambon (ham)».
We would like to thank the artist for the kind verbal remarks, based on photos, 24.07.2023.
Provenance: private collection Dreiländereck.
