Toucan pendant
Probably Tairona, Colombia circa 1200 AD. Tumbaga. Toucan with spherical eyes, curved beak, puffy chest as well as spread wings and tail feathers. Three ringlets, partly as decoration, on the head as well as two further ringlets applied as feet.

Examination report: Prof. Dr. Ernst-Ludwig Richter, Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Stuttgart, 04.02.1991, in copy. Spectral-analytical examination of a sample of 16 gold objects from the private collection K., in which the dating circa 1200 AD was affirmed.
Provenance: according to the consignor purchased in the art trade before 1990; since then private collection K., Freiburg i.Br.
