Austrian portico clock
Johann Umenberger, St. Marienkirchen end 19th C. Wood, ebonised, alabaster, brass and mother-of-pearl. Pressed ball feet, fluted base, four round columns with bases and capitals supporting an entablature, below the cylindrical case, crowned by a fan-shaped gable with vases and mother-of-pearl decoration. Enamel dial with Roman minute scale, cathedral hands. Dial inscibed «Johann Umenberger in St: Marienkirchen.». 48-hour-movement with strike on two gongs at the quarter and full hour.
H 54, W 37, D 14 cm. Ornamental pendulum.
Condition report
Good age-related condition. Movement needs to be revised. Ebonised wood elements slightly rubbed and chipped at the edges, stress crack (approx.
6 cm) at the gable and small missing part at the back left, one back pilaster restored, one mother-of-pearl flower inlay with missing part, dial with several scratches and slightly chipped at the keyholes (2 to
5 mm). Key missing.
