Violin of the Klotz School
Probably Sebastian Klotz, Mittenwald 18th C. Maple and spruce. Finely grained top and back, lacquered in orange-brown. Inside original label of the violin maker inscribed «Sebastian Kloz in Mittenwald An 1765».
L 60, W 20 cm. Leather violin case of the 1930s.
Provenance: private collection Müllheim in the Markgräflerland.
Certificate of purchase and invoice: Herbert Schmidt, violin maker, Gelsenkirchen, 24.12.1930, invoice amount 1200 Reichsmark, in copy.
Condition report
Good overall impression. Signs of use. Rubbed, lacquer slightly irregular. Violin case with signs of handling, partly rubbed and with missing parts.
