Hassan Abdelfattah, one of the most important contemporary Egyptian painters, headed the faculties of Fine Arts at Luxor University and South Valley University, Qena, and currently holds a professorship at Helwan University, Cairo.
The distinctive style of his paintings is defined by a luminously vibrant, contrasting colour palette and is filled with a harmonising calm and fresh vitality. His exploration of the atmospheric quality of the glistening sunlight in the Egyptian landscape and the vitalising warmth that pervades it gives his works a passionate, life-affirming radiance.
