H 72,
Jürgen Brodwolf is known for his «Tubenfiguren (tube figures)», but the artist's œuvre has a remarkably wider spectrum of variations. After training as a lithographer in Bern, Brodwolf spent time in Paris in the early 1950s and experimented with painting autodidactically. It was here that he first encountered Art Informel, which influenced his works. Today he paints and works in the former municipal hospital in Kandern in southern Baden, which he has converted into his studio.

Provenance: purchased at Galerie Dr. Luise Krohn, Badenweiler, in 1983; since then private collection Müllheim in the Markgräflerland.
