Prague Biedermeier portico clock
Joseph Treffler, Prague circa 1825. Brass, ebonised wood and alabaster. Ball-shaped feet and curved base, four round columns with bases and capitals supporting a triangular pediment, in which the cylindrical case is sitting. Silver-plated dial with Roman minute scale, blued lance hands. Inscribed on the dial «Joseph Treffler in Prag». 48-hour movement with strike on two gongs at the quarter and full hour.
H 37, W 26,5, D 10 cm. Pendulum and key.
Condition report
Good fully-functional condition. Columns partially chipped and with small scratches, mostly facing away from the front side, cover glass of the dial with minor, hardly visible scratches, cylindrical wooden frame of the movement above with barely visible cracks, roof pediment verso chipped on the left, base slightly rubbed, with hardly noticeable restauration. Surface damage on the central horizontal centre surface and chips on three corners.
