«The Feldberg Painter»

Karl Hauptmann was born on 25th of April in 1880 in Freiburg i.Br., Germany. He received his artistic training in Nürnberg and Munich and was thereafter engaged as a decorative painter.
In 1908 he produced the first of what were to be his typical Black Forest paintings. In the years between 1915 and 1919, he produced numerous images of the Alpine region he had visited during his deployment with the mountain infantry in the First World War.
In 1918 Karl Hauptmann purchased «Molerhüsli», which for him encompassed his dwelling, atelier, and exhibition space. It soon became a favourite meeting place for skiers, hikers, students, and visitors to Feldberg.
Due to Hauptmann’s ever-present health problems, his doctor prescribed a trip to Italy in 1940, to which he again travelled the following year.
On 7th of April in 1947, Karl Hauptmann died at the age of 67 at his «Molerhüsli».

Construction history of the city of Strasbourg, its districts and fortifications. Publication of the nephew of the important Central German organ builder, Gottfried Silbermann (1683 - 1753). Born in Strasbourg in 1712, he succeeded his father after his death in 1734 as master organ builder in Strasbourg and built about 40 organs. Silbermann died 1783 in Strasbourg. Apart from the history of Strasbourg, his diary of a trip to Saxony, which he made in 1741 to get to know the native land of his family, is also preserved. The work belongs in the context of the «Silbermann-Archiv».

Geboren 1712 in Straßburg, wurde er nach dem Tod seines Vaters 1734 dessen Nachfolger als Orgelbaumeister in Straßburg und baute etwa 40 Orgeln. Johann Andreas Silbermann starb 1783 in Straßburg. Neben dem Straßburger Geschichtswerk ist auch sein Tagebuch einer Reise nach Sachsen erhalten, die er 1741 unternahm, um die Heimat seiner Familie kennenzulernen. Das Werk gehört in den Kontext des «Silbermann-Archivs».
